Matthew Iver Gough - Science

Matthew Iver Gough attended the University of Washington and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Conservation. While studying at UW, he was introduced to the concept of an urban forest, where humans have a positive role in shaping their environment. Since he began working with the Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment in 2002, the Center has offered him an outlet to help students appreciate the beauty and importance of their surroundings while giving them skills to become stewards. He has taken on many roles at the Center including teaching, materials development, curricula development, staff development, and at the heart, youth development. He is currently A NYC Teaching Fellow and will be teaching Living Environments in the upcoming 2006-2007 school year.


Randi Lipack - Math

Randi Lipack holds a BA in Interpersonal Communications from Salisbury University and is currently working on her MS Ed at Queens College with a concentration in Special Education. Her research interests and activities include: planning for special education; personnel needs and math education. Ms. Lipack has held a teaching position and been an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) facilitator for Long Island City High School and has served non-profit foundations such as Big-Brothers, Big-Sisters and Patchogue-Medford Youth and Community Services.


Barbara Marie Vitanza - Art

Barbara Marie Vitanza has been an Art Educator for 3 years yet she brings a wealth of professional expertise in the visual arts. After working in advertising, fashion and textile design, she returned to the School of Visual Arts to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. She is currently working toward her Masters in Art Education at Teacher's College, Columbia University. Born in the Bronx, she has spent most of her life in New York City where the vibrancy of many cultures is in every corner, in every neighborhood, in all people. She believes children need art as a part of their education and a part of their lives; looking at art, talking about art and the process of making art, all help children discover connections between their own lives, their city and the world around them.
